busking creates nostalgia
busking is playing music in the tubes for pence and whatnot. i was walking through changing from the central to the jubilee line the other day and this guy (not that guy) was on his guitar playing oasis' wonderwall. its always been one of my favourite songs and it always resonates in me like any boy i've ever gotten close to. he sang it beautifully and busking is grand because the acoustics of the tube allow the music to really glow. a sense of emotional satisfaction overwhelmed me as i was forced to think about the tumultuous energies of the boys and their crippling fears and this ongoing, crescendoing epiphany i have that despite any awfulness, despite that night i cried everything out of me on the benches at long beach with heather or the senseless feelings surrounding high school, how permanent my sense of self has been despite it all and i am consistently happy and content with my existence and it makes me wonder how they cope in their small worlds, suffocated by their hesitation, and pseudo-existentialism. wonderwalls is right. i'm not intending this to sound self righteous or socially patronizing, but i'm just constantly overwhelmed by the complexity of what we do each day and i don't understand how those who are not open to it cope with all its intricate potential of failure and looming possibility of happiness. well, that was yesterday. i walked through the same station today and someone new was playing you've got a friend by carol king. i bit my lip and smiled and cried a bit through the pores of my wrists so no one would notice on the jubilee line.thank you, noel. i don't hold the fact that kenny likes you against you.

A couple years back, pittsburgh sponsered a busker's society, and some really interesting acts started popping up all over the city.
I love this entry.
I have a copy of Cat Power covering "wonderwall" - it's amazing.
