back massages in the pub and he says "monkey" just the way i like it

please check out this guy's work

its being featured at both tate modern and the photographer's gallery in london.
he's american.
USA! USA! USA!
i can't stop eating guacamole.
i am officially employed in the uk, making a bagillion calls and a few pounds to pay for things here and there.
i had the strangest lunch with this boy who went to brown who hates theatre, poetry, and jazz because apparently they are pretentious. pffff i don't know HOW he could possibly understand. CLEARLY he isn't educated or cultured enough to fraternize with us over these things. He's a filmmaker and quasi easy on the eyes and we had phad thai which always makes me quite happy. i hope perhaps he'll suit one of my very single hostel lady friends.
bunac pub meet the other night, wednesday i believe and we met this rad irish dude name john who buys and sells antiques and has 4 houses in europe. he had much to say about stockholm sweden where keith wants to go for his birthday in may. john loves nyc. he loves union square and danced at webster hall. he's about 40 i'd say and one of those rollicky european chaps pissed drunk off his arse. some canadian guy approached me from bunac god i am so sick of canadians! oh ps: rick, this bunac-er, his roomie is from NISKAYUNA!!!!!!!!!! i practically came all over the pub table.
a few more days in the hostel i hope monday god i hope so. its complicated and not official but soon. god i hope so.
irish boy pete has been annoying me with his consistent textings. he obviously doesn't understand the gemini flightiness and aloof nature. i don't want to hear from you 8 times before we hang out. thanks. i bumped him down from one on one date to him hanging out with my friends because i sensed a greater need of group approval. we hit the pub (the jazz was downstairs and they were charging £ - fuck that) and pete was going to be late so we hung out with keith's friends from work. i hadn't showered since yesterday morning, wore mediocre clothing, and the idea of makeup was laughable as a concept at the moment. (you could tell i was looking forward to seeing pete) i looked like total shite and i'm finally meeting eligible brit boys who work with keith. i clean up well, i swear!
his name is danny. he's from yorkshire county, northern england. he worked with keith for maybe a week while he was temping. he insisted i sit next to him and teased me about ny (everything is like sex and the city!!!!!!!) and tried his best brooklyn accent and i haven't laughed that hard since a time before where i've forgotten myself. i've put in quite an effort in trying out the throes of manhattan and european mediocrity thus far and perhaps this one will stick for a while. he can keep up with me. i could barely get a word in but i didn't care because he just made me want to listen.
this brought up a huge quadry about pete who was supposed to arrive any second. i was having an incredible time and my nachos (hello guac) had just arrived and omg there's pete calling me SHIT. i kept pressing ignore to write him a text but he kept calling and calling and all i wanted to do was eat my nachos. this, of course, tickled danny, who clearly knew my interest in him led me to cancel on poooor pete. this is the meanest thing i've done in a while but i'm not quite sure what you would have done differently in that situation? everything was so organic, between the friends, and the wine, and the new northern english chap, who seemed wrongly attracted to me at my peak moment of filth, and the last thing i wanted to do was to throw the awkwardness of pete into the mix. i braced myself for karma and i will take it like a man this week because it was worth it. i told pete that things were crazy at the moment and tonight wasn't good but could we please have tea the next day? then i put my mobile away as i promised danny and i forgot about it and ate my amazing guac. at that point, he was speaking to me in spanish.
one more note about this pub, "the spice of life". they have women walking around asking people if they would like a massage. its pay-what-you-will and outside of my dear friends from home, was one of the most fantastic things that has ever happened to me. i might get a job in my nonexistent free time. just because i think that would be awesome.
at the moment i'm working my last day at hill and knowlton, the pr firm, wasting time just like dave matthews would have wanted it. there's this boyish boy who works here who is attractive only because he slightly resembles trevor but dresses much better and for some reason he walks around limping, like someone kicked him in the balls and he's recovering. i fancy that very much, i do.
on monday, it seems i am having dinner with some 40 year old guy from my hostel who stayed in my room for a night and told me about how he works in korea and has done so for 11 years now. he was wearing a jesus shirt and that should have clued me in, and when he asked to have dinner i though aww sure yeah new people new stories. when he left in the morning he put a pamphlet on my suitcase titled "are you sure you're going to god's heaven?"
that's right. supping with a a freakshow evangelist. i can't wait. this should be fantastic. its like being on debate team but in real life. do you think i should bring out nick's impression of jesus masturbating on a cross? i think that's a great icebreaker.
oh, and p.s. i might call you. my rates are cheap. if you see a strange number, pick up the goddamn phone. none of this paranoid i don't know who it is crap. there's no fun in leaving vms when I'M CALLING FROM LONDON.
i miss my friends. you are all found in moments of everything i do and see.

I'll be there this weekend.
Ok, not really but I totally wish I was.
I'm jealous. And not in that Luck kind of way. (BTW, Kirsten did a Luck impression the other day out of no where and it was the most amazing thing on earth. I'm a bad person.)
So meet me at the Lamb and Flag for a pint later, ok?
Being Swedish I can understand his love for the most fabalous country in the world!
